Employing non-violent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for non-violence, civil rights and freedom across the world. He studied law at University College London; he lived Pretoria, South Africa and worked as a legal representative for the Muslim Indian Traders; he returned to India permanently in 1915 and joined the Indian National Congress and in 1920 took over its leadership)
